Check spelling in your presentation

Applies to: PowerPoint for Office 365, PowerPoint 2019, PowerPoint 2016.

When you work on a presentation, PowerPoint instinctively detects spelling and basic grammar and you can review the spelling of a full presentation easily.

Fix spelling as you work

  1. Right-click on a word showing a red squiggly line below.
  1. Choose the correct spelling from the list of suggestions.

Or you can choose:

  • Ignore All: Skips the error and erases the red squiggly line.
  • Add to Dictionary: Inserts the spelling to the dictionary and ceases displaying a spelling error in future.

Check your entire presentation

  1. Click Review > Spelling.
  1. In the Spelling pane, pick the right spelling from the suggestions.
  1. Choose Change to rectify the error or Change All if it occurs multiple times in the document.

Or you can select:

  • Ignore: Omits the error and deletes the red squiggly line.
  • Ignore All: Skips the error and erases the red squiggly line.
  • Add to Dictionary: Inserts the spelling to the dictionary and ceases displaying a spelling error in future.
