With OneDrive Files On-Demand, you can access each of your files in SharePoint Online, skipping the download process and occupy your device’s storage space.
Turn on Files On-Demand in OneDrive
- Click the white or blue OneDrive cloud icon in the Windows notification area.

Note: If you’re on Windows 10, your computer automatically has the OneDrive desktop app equipped, but you must switch on Files On-Demand in OneDrive settings.
- Click Settings

- Press Settings > Save space and download files as you use them.
Work with files in Files On-Demand
When Files On-Demand is on, you’ll notice new status icons beside all your SharePoint files. You can now duplicate or shift files from your computer to SharePoint Online directly from your file system.

![]() | After you open an online-only file, it downloads to your device and then is locally accessible. You can open a locally available file whenever you want which can be with no Internet access. |
